Jesus Died for Me
The death of Jesus was intentional, loving, personal, specific, and substitutionary. It is far more than a mere doctrine. He knew He came to die and for whom He would die. Your name was written in heaven, when He was assigned to save you. If He thus died for you, then you should live for Him.
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed,
he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
Isaiah 53:10
Jesus died a loving, personal, specific, substitutionary death for each elect person, individually considered. His death was much more than a theological doctrine, example, or transaction. He knew you, for your name was fully known and written in heaven when He was assigned to you, and then He came in fulness of time to finish the greatest deliverance event … to save you forever.
#1 ... The following verses do not make the cut here due to their use of plural nouns and pronouns,
though we love them dearly and trust their individual intent and effect by others:
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:5-6
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for he shall save his people from their sins.
Matthew 1:21
As thou hast given him power over all flesh,
that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
John 17:2
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners,
so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
Romans 5:19
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood
he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Hebrews 9:12
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
I John 4:10
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book,
and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God
by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Revelation 5:9-10
#2 … In Isaiah 53:10, is it God the Father or Jesus the Servant Himself that sees His seed?
- It is Jesus, by the third person in the previous clause where God is in the second person.
- Jesus knew why and for whom He would die (John 6:37-38; 10:15,26-29; 12:24; 15:13).
- Jesus saw the joy offered Him for redeeming the elect (Hebrews 12:2; 2:9; Rev 5:1-9).
#3 … Jesus always knew why He came to die and always knew for whom He came to die.
- Those the Father gave Him, considered individually, from first to last (John 6:37-40).
- The sheep the Father gave Him to save, including the Gentile sheep (John 10:14-16).
- He laid down His life for His friends, which He loved individually (John 15:13-14).
- He tasted death for every man God had given Him, known one by one (Hebrews 2:9).
#4 … What makes you unique on earth, in heaven, and throughout the Bible? Your name!
- This was true from the beginning for Adam, Eve, every beast, every bird, river, etc., etc.
- The Messiah was identified as Jesus of Nazareth, and Peter as Simon son of Jonas, etc.
- Jesus knew Simon’ full name, but named him Cephas and Peter (John 1:42; Mark 3:16).
- If POTUS in a SOTU thanked all those who work hard, so … but if he named you, Oh!
- Forget your DNA, social security number, drivers license number, fingerprints, etc., etc.
- Why do we all love the named prophecies of Josiah (361 years) and Cyrus (175 years)?
- If your name is only a disciple of Jesus, just a cup of water gets a reward (Matt 10:42).
- But Jesus, as the good Shepherd knows His sheep and knows them by name (John 10:3).
#5 … When was your name written in heaven for Jesus to come and die for you? Eternity!
- The book of life of the Lamb slain is crucial for your eternal life (Rev 20:11-15; 21:27).
- Your name was written in it before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8; 17:8).
- Jesus and Paul exalted this blessing very high, and so should we (Luke 10:20; Phil 4:3).
- If you think parents gave you your name … you are confused … they were far too late!
- Why do we all love the named prophecies of Josiah (361 years) and Cyrus (175 years)?
- You were chosen by name in One named Jesus in eternity (Eph 1:3-6; II Timothy 1:9).
- He was appointed, charged, and ordained to come to die for you (I Peter 1:18-21).
#6 … Arminianism has ruined the death of Jesus by various heresies that pervert it terribly.
- God’s universal love of all men is a cruel hoax, for He sends 95% of men to eternal hell, which is a terrible way to show love, and they do not get another chance, and the 5% of men that get to heaven know He did nothing more for them than He did those in hell.
- Though He created the lost knowing their hell future by omniscient knowledge of their rejection of Him, He teases them with John 3:16 love on eyelids and placards, which is infinitely worse than a God that should hate all but chose to love some to gift with life.
- Jesus’ death only made a pool of redemption for any that might choose to get into it, as He did not die to save anyone specifically but only make it possible for whosoever will.
- Jesus’ death made a deposit in heaven’s bank, and each person must write a check on it to buy their eternal life, though many never hear about the account and most ignore it.
- Jesus did nothing personal, loving, or intentional, for 95% He died for pay for their own sins, and when He consigns them to hell will tell them that He never had known them, and the 5% that are saved owe their lucky status 100% for what they did themselves.
- When they sing about names in the book of life, they sing of you getting it written there, rather than God putting it there for Jesus to be assigned to die for you back in eternity.
- Therefore, their idea of … Jesus died for me … is incredibly exaggerated and delusional.
#7 … God and His Son are very divisible, in that each can be personally and fully with you.
- This is an attribute of God you should already know, but if not, you will know it soon.
- For example, the Spirit of Jesus is seven, yet only one Holy Spirit, for seven churches.
- For example, God and Jesus can personally love and abide with you (John 14:21-23).
- Did you fully catch the individual and personal relationship of God and Jesus to you?
- If your faith is weak, see millions of angels individually assigned to one (Matt 18:10).
#8 … God and His Son have always known one soul at a time in love, purpose, and blessing.
- You heard it very recently. Did God personally love Jacob before birth (Romans 9:13)?
- Did David understand this? He ascribed favor to God liking him (I Chronicles 28:4).
- How about Jeremy? When did God say He knew Jeremiah? Before birth (Jeremiah 1:5).
- Nathanael was shocked by how much Jesus already knew about him (John 1:45-51).
- The woman of Samaria was shocked that Jesus knew all she had ever done (Jn 4:4-30).
- Jesus healed one man at Bethesda’s pool and one sharp blind man (John 5:1-9; 9:1-41).
- Jesus loved Martha, Mary, Lazarus, individually so, and they all knew it (John 11:3-5).
- Jesus went through a terrible storm on Sea of Galilee for one Gadarene (Mark 5:1-20).
- Jesus knowing He had healed a woman identified her to commend her (Mark 5:24-34).
- When Satan wanted to sift the eleven, Jesus prayed for Peter alone (Luke 22:31-32).
- One thief was changed by the power of God to hear very personal things (Luke 23:43).
- Jesus sent an angel for Philip to find the Ethiopian Eunuch in the desert (Acts 8:26-40).
- Jesus chose Paul before birth and loved him as a murderer (Gal 1:15; I Timothy 1:12).
- Paul knew he could presume on this personal relationship for love and death (Gal 2:20).
#9 … Adoption is incredibly personal … into a family … introduced to all family members.
- No one adopts an idea, a blob, a thing, but a single person they chose to love over others.
- No one after adopting at great price forgets the adoption or the one they chose to reward.
- God sent Jesus to pay a great price to adopt you, and because of that He sends His Spirit into your heart to reassure you of it (Rom 5:5; 8:14-17,29; 15:13; Gal 4:4-6; Heb 2:13).
- Adopted by intentional predestination – destiny chosen before (Ro 8:29-30; Ep 1:5,11).
#10 … Communion is a congregational ordinance celebrating a divine event for all the elect of God (I Cor 10:16-17; 11:20-34; Acts 2:42), but today you should focus as well on His intentional, loving, personal, substitutionary death for you individually by your name, for His instructions for the supper include some duties done individually (I Cor 11:27-29,34).
