Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
- He poured out his soul unto death (John 10:18; Luke 23:46; Phil 2:8).
- He was numbered with the transgressors (Mark 15:27-28).
- He bare the sin of many though none of His own (Isaiah 53:5,9,11c; I Pet 2:22,24).
- He made intercession for the transgressors that crucified Him (Luke 23:34).
I Timothy 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
- He defended God’s heavenly kingdom and truth before the pagan compromiser.
Hebrews 12:2-3 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
- He kept his affection on things above – seeing future joy (Psalm 16:9-11).
- He endured the cross, not an easy way to die, but great suffering (Matt 26:39; Phil 2:8).
- He despised the shame of hanging naked as a common criminal in public (Ps 22:17).
- He endured a great contradiction of sinners mocking Him (Ps 22:6-8; Mark 15:29).
I Peter 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
- He did not revile back to those reviling Him though tired and in great pain (Is 53:7).
- He did not threaten those that tortured Him of what He could or would do to them.
- He left all vengeance in God’s hands without taking any even verbally (Ps 22:9-10)
