Is there a double standard in the Bible?

If by double standard you mean God created differences between men and women in anatomy, consequences, duties, and privileges, then yes. God made the woman for the man, but not the man for the woman (I Cor 11:9; I Tim 2:13), thus showing a priority of duty and loyalty. The woman has a hymen proving virginity or not, but the man has no such indicator (Deut 22:13-21). The test of jealousy was for men only regarding their wives (Num 5:11-31). Women conceive and reveal their sexual sins (Gen 38:24). God allowed polygamy but nothing even close to polyandry (II Sam 12:7-8). If a woman even touched another man’s private parts with the best of intentions, her hand was to be cut off without mercy (Deut 25:11-12). This double standard may be explained by men being accountable to God, not women, but women being accountable to men.
