How do you define love?

We define love as the choice to serve another person’s best interests, with the highest goal being to help that person please God and fulfill their destiny set by Him (I Cor 13:4-7; Lev 19:17; Rom 15:2). Love is a choice, not a feeling; we do not believe feelings produce real love, but real love will produce feelings (Col 3:19; Pr 9:8). Love looks at another person’s best interests rather than its own. It focuses on giving rather than getting (Rom 12:10; Acts 20:35). The highest degree of love is selfless meekness with total sacrifice for the welfare of another (II Cor 12:15).
