Jesus Is the Second Adam
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
I Corinthians 15:22
You will die. You cannot avoid it. If you lived a perfect, sinless life, you must die. All men die. Babies die. Everyone you know will die. Why? Because of Adam!
Adam represented all mankind in the Garden of Eden. God made a covenant with him that his choice and action would be applied to all men. He sinned; he ignored God’s warning; he chose death. Because of Adam, you must die and go to hell.
The whole world knows death is inevitable, but hardly any know why. They think biologically and actuarially, which is foolish and ignorant. Few know about Adam, though the consequences and written explanation have been here 3,500 years.
God inspired Paul to explain death by Adam (Rom 5:12-14; I Cor 15:21-22,45-49).
You cannot avoid your connection to Adam. Your birth by human parents connects you to him. The consequences are terrible, but the fact is common. It is not much different from the profound effect that parents, nation, and civil rulers have on you.
There is another Representative – Jesus the Son of God. He is the Second Adam, for He represents His people like Adam represented his descendants. God made a covenant to give eternal life to all those in Him (Rom 5:15-19; I Cor 15:21-22,45).
God promised in Eden another representative to destroy Satan (Gen 3:15). He promised Him to Abraham (Gen 22:15-18) and Jacob (Gen 49:10). He committed His full zeal to His birth in a virgin and to His rule of His kingdom (Is 7:14; 9:6-7).
You have just read incredible information. You know why all die, even babies. You know the man’s name that caused it all. But you also know another Man’s name to undo all that damage for His people. What will you do to get in Christ?
God chose some in Christ before the world began (Rom 8:28-39; Eph 1:3-6; II Tim 1:9; Titus 1:2). This choice includes Jesus’ payment for all sins for them (John 6:38; 10:28-29; 17:2). This choice includes their regeneration (John 6:37,44).
You can assure yourself of being in Jesus Christ by believing the Bible’s record about Him and being baptized (Gal 3:26-27). You can make God’s choice of you in Jesus Christ sure to your own heart and mind (II Pet 1:5-11; I Thess 1:2-4).
The Lord Jesus Christ is far more than a concept, a doctrine, or a vague part of the Trinity. Jesus Christ is the Second Adam and secures eternal life for all those in Him. Believe on Him today, and obey and live for Him today and every day.
