War for Truth
There has always been violent opposition between the wicked and the righteous, Satan and God. The devil and world seek to rid earth of God's truth, so we must learn, defend, and promote it, especially in church and families.
There Is a War for Truth
- It is a war for truth; the world fights against our truth, and we fight for it against them.
- Since this is a Bible sermon for a Christian church, the truth is God’s truth in scripture, for we could hardly care less about so-called truth in foolish discussions like politics.
- We recently explained the dragon’s war against Jesus’ church and truth (Rev 12:17).
- Satan hates truth and fights it with lies and murder from the beginning (John 8:44-45).
- In the beginning, Satan lied about God, killed Adam, Eve, and Abel (Gen 3:4; I Jn 3:12).
- The world, in absolute loyalty to the devil, hates truth as well and seeks to destroy it.
- The situation is an all-out conflict of truth/good versus lies/evil (Pr 29:2,4,7,8,10,16,27).
- If it were not for God our Father restraining their wrath, they would kill us all (Ps 76:10).
- Most Christians overlook holy hatred (II Chr 19:2; Ps 15:4; 31:6; 139:21-22; Rev 2:6).
- Compromise or confusion is everywhere – Antifa, BLM, LGBTQ, SOGI, DNC, SBC.
- We live in perilous times, meaning war for truth, mostly pulpits (II Tim 3:8,13; 4:3-4).
- The world is upside down by insane, increasingly-bizarre evil (Is 29:9-14; Ro 1:18-32).
- Pressure is variety of intellectual, academic, professional, political, social, religious, etc.
Christians Are to Fight for Truth
- Satan will try to get you to fight windmills – only Bible truth matters (II Tim 3:1 – 4:4).
- The world is getting worse, not better, and you will pay, if you stand (II Tim 3:12-13).
- Many Christians have sung, Onward Christian Soldiers, with little idea of any conflict.
- We are called by God’s word to earnestly contend for one faith (Jude 1:3; Neh 13:25).
- You wish you had been alive to fight Goliath? You have bigger, worse enemies to fight.
- This church, Christ’s church, your church, is truth’s pillar and ground (I Tim 3:15-16).
- God demands worship in spirit and truth, condemning almost all beliefs (John 4:20-24).
- Truth has been emphasized in this church many ways, and it will always be while I live.
- My fight and warfare include you; I must destroy your heretical ideas (II Cor 10:4-6).
- Of many reminders, remember Spatial Disorientation (9/17/2014; 2/5/2020; 2/9/2020).
- We called this Right Side Up in an Upside Down World against weather, self, others.
- I will fulfill my duty. What of fathers (Deut 4:9; 6:6; Ps 30:9; 34:11; Is 38:19; Eph 6:4)?
- Most of you have not fought for the truth, defended the truth, or paid a price to have it.
- Our distinctions of truth and right divisions of scripture will be lost without great effort.
- This is a great cause, and we should be greatly moved by it like David (I Samuel 17:29).
- We have the answer book for all of life, and we should not question its power for truth.
How We Can Best Fight for Truth
- Since this is a Bible sermon for a Christian church, the truth is God’s truth in scripture.
- Little to no need or value to study the violent history of truth vs. error, right vs. wrong.
- Our flesh is inherently opposed to truth, and by laziness it will destroy it in our families.
- It takes a little knowledge to believe truth, more to teach it, but much more to defend it.
- For you to learn/teach Bible truth thoroughly … you must fear and reduce other inputs.
- Your pastor hits you 12 times a week with key things from God’s word (I The 5:20-21).
- God through Paul mocked the Hebrews for not advancing to teachers (Heb 5:12-14).
- Ministerial fear is justified, as Paul feared for a church he started (II Cor 11:1-4,13-15).
- Will you help convey and perpetuate truth to future generations (Ps 68:1-8; Joel 1:1-3).
- Our children must know the Big Black Book is truth on all things (Ps 119:128; Is 8:20).
- God hates vain thoughts; we need to hate them (Ps 119:113; I Cor 1:19-20; 3:19-20).
- We cannot fear or we will compromise; we choose and encourage boldness (Pr 29:25).
- We cannot be friends with this world, though yet in it (Mat 6:24; Jas 4:4; I Cor 5:9-11).
- You must LEARN the truth to avoid deception and to answer (Ps 19:7-11; Prov 1:1-6; 22:17-21; Acts 10:33; 17:-11; Eph 5:6; II Thess 2:3; I Pet 3:15).
- You must ASSIST the truth by encouraging and praying for all those holding it or teaching it (I Sam 23:16; II Chron 31:4; Acts 28:15; III John 1:8; Eph 6:19; Rom 15:30).
- You must TEACH the truth every opportunity you have (Prov 1:8; 6:20; Rom 15:14; I Cor 14:34-35; Eph 6:4; Heb 5:12-14; Jas 5:19-20).
- You must PROMOTE the truth by exalting its pillar and ground – your local church (Rom 16:1-4; I Cor 14:16,24-25,31; Eph 4:16; I Tim 3:8-13; III John 1:1-8).
- You must DEFEND the truth every opportunity you get (Matt 14:3-12; Gal 2:11-14; I Thess 5:14; Titus 1:9-14; I Pet 3:15).
- You must PRACTICE the truth always in all parts of life to condemn the wicked and avoid charges and hypocrisy (Pr 28:4; I Tim 5:14; 6:1; Tit 2:5; I Pet 2:11-12; 4:12-16).
- You must REPROVE error when confronted by it and wisdom would allow it (Lev 19:17; Ps 141:5; Prov 9:6-9; 26:4-5; 19:25; Matt 7:6; Eph 5:6-13; Titus 1:9-14).
