Paul told the jailor, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved….” But what salvation did they have in mind? Paul said he was saved before the world began (II Tim 1:9), at the cross (I Tim 1:15), when he was born again (Titus 3:5), by ministerial duty (I Tim 4:16), and said he was not saved yet (Rom 13:11). A man must be elect, justified, and born again before he will believe, so faith cannot help these phases of salvation.
