Faith cannot be the condition, the instrument, or the means of a condemned sinner gaining eternal life, for the Bible declares natural man cannot believe and will not believe. God rejects man’s will as having any role in eternal life, since it is His will that makes the difference through the faith and obedience of Jesus Christ alone. God must save first, before man will believe or obey, as in the case of Cornelius, who was clearly accepted by God and born again long before meeting Peter.
