Modern Bibles Corrupt
Best Verse on Baptism

I Peter 3:21

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth
also now save us (not the putting away of
the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good
conscience toward God,) by the resurrection
of Jesus Christ.

“The like figure” teaches the true mode of baptism is immersion, for baptism must be a figure of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Immersion symbolizes the burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Not the putting away of the filth of the flesh” teaches the true design of baptism. It does not save from sin or regenerate. It is rather the symbolic answer of a conscience already saved.

“But the answer of a good conscience toward God” teaches the true subject of baptism. Only those old enough to believe and answer God with their conscience should be baptized.

Revised Standard Version (1952)
Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

New American Standard Version (1971)
And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you – not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience – through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

New International Version (1978)
And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also – not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

New Revised Standard Version (1989)
And baptism, which this prefigured, now saves you – not as a removal of dirt from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

CAN YOU IDENTIFY THE CORRUPTION OF . . .

MODE: They deny baptism is a figure of resurrection and instead make the ark (Acts 3:20) a figure of baptism.

DESIGN: They allow baptism to put away sins and regenerate by only denying it cleans dirt from the body.

SUBJECT: They make baptism the appeal for a good conscience rather than the answer of a good conscience.
