"Now
the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and
she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance:
but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house
of Caleb."
I Samuel 25:3
Christian
wife, you have the opportunity to be a great woman in the earth for the
glory of God and the testimony of the truth in this ungodly generation.
There are very few such women. You can and should be the best of your
sex for the Lord Jesus Christ, your husband, and your children. You can
and should put the foolish women of this nation to shame. You should be
the glorious and gracious object of adoration the Lord intended you to
be.
Abigail was a very wise and beautiful woman, but she was married to a
rich fool. Read how the Lord delivered her from her unhappy marriage and
arranged romance and marriage with David. Here is an inspired drama to
encourage you in your marriage.
Your Creator has made you wonderfully, and He has called you to follow
the example of the holy women who went before you, as Sarah in I Peter
3:5-6. But here is the glorious example of Abigail, as she shows the godly
response to a foolish husband bent on sinning and the magnificent wisdom
in winning the mind and heart of an angry man. Here are two common dilemmas
of wives that Abigail answers fully.
